Johnny Jernberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ernesto Varela. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Johnny Jernberg ran back to his position shaking his head. Afonso Maciel charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Afonso Maciel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Afonso Maciel hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the match, Mansfield Town FC's goal looked a bit too open when Edgar Baiano came free, but Karl Stjernfelt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ernesto Varela didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Malte Sundström went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Folke Örtlund kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Orlando Mineiro to make the kick off. Ernesto Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Malte Sundström, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. With a little luck, Mansfield Town FC's Karl Stjernfelt got control of the ball when Cléber Palmeira tried to sneak it across the goal line. 64 minutes into the game, Mansfield Town FC's Bertil Palm nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ernesto Varela made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Folke Örtlund hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. The long shot by Afonso Maciel in the 83rd minute really tested Karl Stjernfelt's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Mansfield Town FC had played much better football throughout.
