Administrativo Sport Club's Henry Gunnarsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Maradona in the 11th minute of play. A hard shot 17 in the game by Donato Sampaio from a close distance when the talented Óscar Cordoba managed to make a qualified save. Sporting de Gijón's players were relieved. Donato Sampaio had several of the Sporting de Gijón's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 17 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Óscar Cordoba as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 19th minute, Noel Brodel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Matias Bilintx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Henry Gunnarsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matias Bilintx in the 20th minute of the match. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurelio Di Battista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th minute, Administrativo Sport Club's Eleuterio Aragones ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Óscar Cordoba. Óscar Cordoba yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donato Sampaio in the 30th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Administrativo Sport Club's Aurelio Di Battista got a free kick in the 31st minute. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Sporting de Gijón from getting a goal against them. Diego Maradona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Henry Gunnarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Administrativo Sport Club getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Edgard Oidor hit a great ball. Óscar Cordoba made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Donato Sampaio sent off a good shot on target. In the 41st match minute, Administrativo Sport Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Noel Brodel to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Administrativo Sport Club's zone, Matias Bilintx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henry Gunnarsson came out of the goal and Matias Bilintx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matias Bilintx in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Henry Gunnarsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 46 minutes into the match, Donato Sampaio dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Óscar Cordoba, 3-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Matias Bilintx stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Administrativo Sport Club's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Maradona came free, but Henry Gunnarsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 52nd minute Diego Maradona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henry Gunnarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 52 minutes in the game, Diego Maradona dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Wayne Rooney replaced Alejandro Rufo. After a rather tough play, Sporting de Gijón's Alphonso Davies got a free kick in the 58th minute. Wayne Rooney could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Henry Gunnarsson made a huge save. Matias Bilintx in the 68thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Henry Gunnarsson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Sporting de Gijón's Kauan de Barros was substituted for Atilano Feo. Sporting de Gijón were awarded a corner in the 70th minute after Administrativo Sport Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Administrativo Sport Club's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
