Óscar Cordoba came out of the goal and Santo Damario tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kubilay İmge in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute Sporting de Gijón were awarded a corner. Saturnino Curcio went to the cornerflag to take it. Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lech Biskupiak, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lech Biskupiak in the 19th minute of play. Cristian Vladimirescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Maradona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Óscar Cordoba prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 30th minute of the match Riesgo Cero got a corner. Sporting de Gijón's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Patryk Dziczek ran over to the corner to take the kick. Patryk Dziczek made a great header on Riesgo Cero's corner, it was just that Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba managed to reach the ball for a save. Óscar Cordoba made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donato Odilon in the 31st minute. Through an outstanding action, after 53 minutes, Cristian Vladimirescu successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matias Bilintx in the 61st minute of play forced Riesgo Cero's goalkeeper Cristian Vladimirescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sporting de Gijón's Alejandro Rufo got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Riesgo Cero's Cristian Vladimirescu got control of the ball when Venancio Emesto tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 77th minute, Diego Maradona reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cristian Vladimirescu. The goal made the score 0-2. In the 81st minute, Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cristian Vladimirescu. Cristian Vladimirescu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. In the 84th minute, Sporting de Gijón's Gabriel Diaz seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Gabriel Diaz the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Sporting de Gijón protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Gabriel Diaz had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 84 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Sporting de Gijón! Óscar Cordoba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lech Biskupiak's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. 92 minutes into the match, Riesgo Cero's goal looked a bit too open when Venancio Emesto came free, but Cristian Vladimirescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, Riesgo Cero's goalkeeper Cristian Vladimirescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Venancio Emesto. Sporting de Gijón played a much better game than Riesgo Cero and deserved their victory. The Riesgo Cero players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
