In the 3rd minute, Nicu Zberea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 5 played minutes Republica Ploiești got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Firea. Manuel Lăcătuș came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Valla Fc's Tor-Ivar Kalland. But to his dismay, Tor-Ivar Kalland quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After some careless play in the Republica Ploiești defense, Tor-Ivar Kalland kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manuel Lăcătuș. The Republica Ploiești fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manuel Lăcătuș should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Republica Ploiești booed when Valla Fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciro Fata didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niklas Isaksson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Republica Ploiești's Nicu Zberea got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 28 minutes into the game, Ciro Fata lined in a short shot 3-0 behind a frustrated Manuel Lăcătuș. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mircea Mihoc during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mircea Mihoc kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, Republica Ploiești's goalkeeper Manuel Lăcătuș had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tor-Ivar Kalland. Manuel Lăcătuș made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tor-Ivar Kalland in the 34th minute of play. Antoine Lovera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicu Zberea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Republica Ploiești getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Emanuel Firea hit a great ball. In the 40th minute, Niklas Isaksson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Manuel Lăcătuș. The goal made the score 4-0. Codrin Traianescu's late challenge caught a Valla Fc's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Codrin Traianescu helped the player get up and apologised. Codrin Traianescu kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After having played for 44 minutes, Tor-Ivar Kalland managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Valla Fc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tor-Ivar Kalland was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Antoine Lovera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nicu Zberea's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ciro Fata to make the kick off. Nicu Zberea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antoine Lovera having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Vasile Stoica kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Antoine Lovera. That made the score 4-1 in the 62 minute of play. In the 70th minute, Artemio Esdras hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 76 played minutes Republica Ploiești got a freekick which was hit by Vasile Stoica. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niklas Isaksson in the 78th minute of play forced Republica Ploiești's goalkeeper Manuel Lăcătuș to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peter Töpfer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Niklas Isaksson charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Niklas Isaksson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 83 played minutes Valla Fc got a freekick which was hit by Niklas Isaksson. 90 minutes into the game, Peter Töpfer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Manuel Lăcătuș was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Nicu Zberea came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Republica Ploiești fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicu Zberea couldn't finish the play.
