The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Várzea F.C.'s Reinaldo Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Márton Petres in the 3rd minute of play. Pál Benkó made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bruninho Arósio in the 4th minute. The supporters of Várzea F.C. booed when Leeds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Imre Selymes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Leeds's goalkeeper Pál Benkó had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bruninho Arósio. 14 minutes into the game, Várzea F.C.'s Alessandro Mandrak nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pál Benkó made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 22nd minute Alessandro Mandrak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pál Benkó saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pál Benkó was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alessandro Mandrak showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 22 minute of play. A collision led to Várzea F.C. getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Rogério Loureiro hit a great ball. After 34 played minutes Várzea F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Celso Secco. Reinaldo Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tibor Dudics in the 35th minute of play. Reinaldo Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Márton Petres in the 45th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruninho Arósio in the 51st minute of play forced Leeds's goalkeeper Pál Benkó to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zsolt Simon kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. 56 minutes into the match, Leeds's goal looked a bit too open when Alessandro Mandrak came free, but Pál Benkó reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pál Benkó showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alessandro Mandrak in the 72nd minute of the match.
