In the 10th minute, Robert Spitzer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. If 石战潮 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 石战潮 scored 2-0 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 石战潮 scored 3-0 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Ravens booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ravens's zone, Eliseo Noboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roch Bobrowski came out of the goal and Eliseo Noboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Igor Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Benito Sanz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but 石战潮 showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 5-0 in the 39 minute of play. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 42 minute of play, and Igor Barros capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Igor Barros really showed his touch with that goal: 6-0. The crowd rose to their feet as 石战潮 kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benito Sanz. That made the score 7-0 in the 47 minute of play.

Roch Bobrowski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Puig in the 53rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Morf in the 66th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Robert Spitzer put it in 8-0 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. 71 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when 石战潮 came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcelino Montxo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 92nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
