After 9th play minutes Jorginho Soares shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Claes Jönsson and just under the crossbar into goal. 12 minutes into the game, Kasper Ström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. La vecchia signora's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Internazionale-RS the free kick. Kasper Ström hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. In the 14th minute, Jorginho Soares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Internazionale-RS's zone, Michael Forss stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filipe Travassos came out of the goal and Michael Forss tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Jorginho Soares put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Claes Jönsson. In the 25th minute, Ronaldinho de Amaral left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Internazionale-RS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Jorginho Soares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claes Jönsson having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Bruno Santana's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Claes Jönsson was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Herman Arvidsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Filipe Travassos made a huge save. With a little luck, Internazionale-RS's Filipe Travassos got control of the ball when Gunnar Nordahl tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 39th minute Jorginho Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claes Jönsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michael Forss sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The La vecchia signora players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Internazionale-RS were winning 1-4.

After 63 minutes, Luís Eduardo Furlan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Internazionale-RS and the La vecchia signora players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 63rd match minute, Internazionale-RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Eduardo Furlan to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Internazionale-RS defense, Gunnar Nordahl kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Filipe Travassos. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Herman Arvidsson during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
