SE Palmeiras's Will Muralhas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihály Szikora in the 7th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SE Palmeiras's Natanael Paraense got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 15th minute, Leeds's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ian Cerezo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 17th match minute, Leeds was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mihály Szikora to maneuver through the defense. Abelardo Medeiros took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pál Benkó. Pál Benkó dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Abelardo Medeiros scored 2-0 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pál Benkó, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 36th minute, Imre Selymes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Leeds fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. 43 minutes into the match, SE Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Mihály Szikora came free, but Will Muralhas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Abelardo Medeiros was the one to do the kick off. Will Muralhas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Márton Petres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Leeds booed when SE Palmeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ian Cerezo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Will Muralhas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tibor Dudics in the 63rd minute of play. Will Muralhas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mihály Szikora in the 72nd minute. 76 minutes into the match, Leeds's goal looked a bit too open when Abelardo Medeiros came free, but Pál Benkó reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, SE Palmeiras's Oswaldo Godoi got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Mihály Szikora recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
