Holger Vester took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giacomo Casanova, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Holger Vester was out of position in the 29 minute of play, and Henric Vallander capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Henric Vallander really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Jarl Bröms's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Holger Vester read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Henric Vallander's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Holger Vester firmly grabbed it by the left post. La Boys were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after Hammarby IF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bernt Hedling took the corner. Holger Vester made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giacomo Casanova in the 41st minute of play. A collision led to Hammarby IF getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Francesco Totti hit a great ball. Holger Vester made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Giacomo Casanova sent off a good shot on target. In the 47th minute Francesco Totti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johan Lööf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Giacomo Casanova in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Holger Vester saved Hammarby IF from getting behind. Bosse Larsson hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. In the 68th minute, Andrew Tate hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 70 minutes, Celedonio Dominguez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hammarby IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celedonio Dominguez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giacomo Casanova in the 72nd minute of play forced Hammarby IF's goalkeeper Holger Vester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hammarby IF's Holger Vester played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giacomo Casanova in the 82nd minute of play. Holger Vester was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. For all the effort they put into the match, the Hammarby IF players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for La Boys.
