Ronnie Hellström yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 20th minute, Georg Norström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kurt Hamrin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of spikarna booed when Skövde AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans Petersson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronnie Hellström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven Nordkvist in the 40th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven Nordkvist in the 45th minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Ronnie Hellström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kaj Hård to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Skövde AIK defense, Atakan Pepe kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ronnie Hellström. The Skövde AIK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ronnie Hellström should have stopped the shot. spikarna were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after Skövde AIK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Atakan Pepe took the corner. The corner led to spikarna's Rickard Alefors getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Kaj Hård fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronnie Hellström having to interfere. Ronnie Hellström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Atakan Pepe in the 69th minute of the match. After 71 minutes of play, spikarna's Atakan Pepe made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ronnie Hellström was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Skövde AIK booed when spikarna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kaj Hård didn't get a good kick on the ball. Skövde AIK's Chen Ao Fan got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 81st minute, Kevin Keegan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lars Norberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurt Hamrin in the 85th minute of play. Chen Ao Fan struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Lars Norberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Skövde AIK. Skövde AIK's Knut Rudberg managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Atakan Pepe in the 91 minute of the game. Ronnie Hellström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven Nordkvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
