An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Mårtensson in the 18th minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper August Hjortberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 21 minutes, Kasper Bivall managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Flamengo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kasper Bivall was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 23 minutes, Kasper Bivall mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Flamengo and the Lidköping players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dariusz Puchlik fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without August Hjortberg having to interfere. The supporters of Flamengo booed when Lidköping was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per-Åke Myr didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Kristoffer Västerstrand managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Flamengo's Kasper Bivall fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Kasper Bivall received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kristoffer Västerstrand came out and tried to block the shot, but Kasper Bivall slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 44th minute. A collision led to Flamengo getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Stig-Arne Ekerot hit a great ball. August Hjortberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Allan Björk, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 52nd minute Adam Mårtensson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but August Hjortberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Stig Söderquist fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lidköping's protests and gave Stig Söderquist a yellow card for diving instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stefan Bogren got free with August Hjortberg in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A sloppy throw-in by Ahmet Orhan Kazakhan in the 83rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Lidköping's Jens-Åke Larsfelt. When the match clock showed 92 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Kasper Bivall sped through Lidköping's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kristoffer Västerstrand. August Hjortberg was a little too slow when Stefan Bogren got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 96th minute. The score was now 3-3.
