Ronnie Hellström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gösta Söderberg in the 5th minute of the match. In the 6th minute Francesco Totti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie Hellström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 10 minutes into the match, Francesco Totti notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström. Ronnie Hellström was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 13th minute Celedonio Dominguez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie Hellström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Francesco Totti hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Francesco Totti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronnie Hellström having to interfere. Ronnie Hellström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ola Bremming, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Ola Bremming came free, but Ronnie Hellström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gösta Söderberg in the 26th minute of play. Holger Vester made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kevin Keegan in the 29th minute. Skövde AIK were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Hammarby IF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Chen Ao Fan took the corner. The corner led Skövde AIK's Kevin Keegan to fire away a dangerous shot which Holger Vester despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Francesco Totti notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström. Frans Beckenbauer made a great header on Hammarby IF's corner, it was just that Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström managed to reach the ball for a save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Celedonio Dominguez to make the kick off. In the 56th minute, Isaltino Paes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Hammarby IF's Blanco Mera got a free kick in the 59th minute. With a little luck, Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström got control of the ball when Francesco Totti tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 66th minute, Frans Mossberg reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ronnie Hellström. The goal made the score 0-3. 69 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Ronnie Hellström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francesco Totti. After 73 played minutes Skövde AIK got a freekick which was hit by Egídio Fernandez. Ronnie Hellström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Isaltino Paes in the 74th minute. Chen Ao Fan took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Holger Vester. Holger Vester dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Chen Ao Fan kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Ronnie Hellström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francesco Totti. Francesco Totti could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Ronnie Hellström made a huge save. When the final whistle sounded Hammarby IF left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Skövde AIK.
