Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 5 minutes into the match, O rey Iván's Mihály Fülep sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 7th minute, Augusto Fliz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aristides Barea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. The supporters of O rey Iván booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. 10 minutes into the game, one of Ecuador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Julio Vera had in the 13thth minute some difficulties stopping Augusto Fliz's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 2-0 came in the 13th minute when Augusto Fliz all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Julio Vera. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihály Fülep in the 17th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute Mihály Fülep shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Augusto Fliz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihály Fülep, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Mihály Fülep kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mihály Fülep in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 39th minute. When Luis Andino came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Andino couldn't finish the play. Augusto Fliz charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Augusto Fliz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Aristides Barea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 53rdth minute of the game Mihály Fülep who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mihály Fülep recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Augusto Fliz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Augusto Fliz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 68th minute, Franz Kafka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Lizar in the 71st minute of play. After 77 minutes, Ivan Lizar made it 5-0 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When O rey Iván's Ivan Lizar in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. O rey Iván were awarded a corner in the 82th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ivan Lizar took the corner. The corner ended in Ivan Lizar almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. In the 87th minute of the match O rey Iván got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ivan Lizar ran over to the corner to take the kick. Julio Vera didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when O rey Iván's Ivan Lizar shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 6-0 in the ordered_time% minute. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. O rey Iván were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
