With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Mihály Fülep tried to sneak it across the goal line. Emiliano Garaona charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emiliano Garaona the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 8 played minutes O rey Iván got a freekick which was hit by Emiliano Garaona. After having played for 23 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mihály Fülep had several of the Venezuela's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 26 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Jonathan Ferrant as he didn't even see the shot coming. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mihály Fülep in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. If Mihály Fülep had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mihály Fülep got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 34th minute, one of Venezuela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Venezuela. Venezuela:s Jonathan Ferrant showed great skill when he stopped Augusto Fliz:s penalty. After 35 minutes of play, O rey Iván's Augusto Fliz made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Camilo Gaos got a free kick in the 40th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. Aristides Barea didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Illescas went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Alex Chicote hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. O rey Iván made a substitution. Ivan Lizar replaced Mihály Fülep.
