Pénzügyőr SE's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Herberto Mascarenhas in the 4th minute. After some careless play in the Mexilhão F. C. defense, Bertil Albäck kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vitório de Salles. The Mexilhão F. C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vitório de Salles should have stopped the shot. Mexilhão F. C.'s Vitório de Salles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Mexilhão F. C. from getting a goal against them. Vitório de Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Márton Soós in the 10th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Bertil Albäck managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pénzügyőr SE's supporters rose to their feet, but Bertil Albäck was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vitório de Salles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If José Paulo Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Róbert Sárosi charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Róbert Sárosi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 23rd minute of the game. One of Pénzügyőr SE:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Mexilhão F. C.:s goal. Pénzügyőr SE:s Vencel Mezei showed great skill when he stopped Germano Pernambucano:s penalty. In the 26th minute Herberto Mascarenhas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitório de Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emerson Cavalcante recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vitório de Salles made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Herberto Mascarenhas sent off a good shot on target. 32 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Vitório de Salles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bertil Albäck. Vitório de Salles was out of position in the 36 minute of play, and Viktor Szaniszló capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Viktor Szaniszló really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. Germano Pernambucano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Vencel Mezei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Herberto Mascarenhas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Mexilhão F. C.'s zone, Herberto Mascarenhas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vitório de Salles came out of the goal and Herberto Mascarenhas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vencel Mezei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Paulo Costa in the 48th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Paulo Costa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Germano Pernambucano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vencel Mezei read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. After 54 played minutes Mexilhão F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Umberto Negri. In the 56th minute, Tihamér Angyal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vitório de Salles was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Vitório de Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Márton Soós, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. 61 minutes into the game, Pénzügyőr SE's Tihamér Angyal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vitório de Salles made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. The supporters of Pénzügyőr SE booed when Mexilhão F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emerson Cavalcante didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Vítor Matorin hit a great ball. 76 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Bertil Albäck came free, but Vitório de Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Germano Pernambucano could shoot a difficult shot in the 77th minute, which Vencel Mezei however easily saved by the left post. Pénzügyőr SE's Erben Kiewit suffered a concussion after 80 minutes and had to leave the field. Vítor Matorin charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vítor Matorin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Pénzügyőr SE made a substitution. Bonifacio George replaced Erben Kiewit. Vítor Matorin hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Vencel Mezei made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Wesley Prado sent off a good shot on target. Mexilhão F. C.'s Vitório de Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bertil Albäck in the 85th minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Herberto Mascarenhas came free, but Vitório de Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Germano Pernambucano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Vencel Mezei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mexilhão F. C.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
