The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pedro Luís Pereira made in the 2nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Kauã Moreno however managed to control. A sloppy throw-in by Marius Knobel in the 5th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by FÊNIX F.C.'s Jailson Favoretto. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Waud Soetemans put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Alfredo Paraibano. In the 11th minute Bengt Bouchard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hannes Dresdner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FÊNIX F.C.'s Alfredo Paraibano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waud Soetemans in the 13th minute of play. Hannes Dresdner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bengt Bouchard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by I Putu í Lon Jacobsen in the 26th minute of play forced FÊNIX F.C.'s goalkeeper Alfredo Paraibano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After taking down the ball on FÊNIX F.C.'s corner Marquinhos Teixeira fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Hannes Dresdner quite easily take care of the ball. After 31 minutes of play, FÊNIX F.C.'s Marquinhos Teixeira made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hannes Dresdner was left in no man's land by his defense there! 37 minutes into the game, FÊNIX F.C.'s Marquinhos Teixeira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hannes Dresdner made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Marquinhos Teixeira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Waud Soetemans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

With his leg Hannes Dresdner managed to avoid a goal in the 54thth minute, when FÊNIX F.C.'s Bengt Bouchard fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 56th minute, I Putu í Lon Jacobsen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Black Dragons fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Marius Knobel made in the 59th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Peter Gustafsson. Hannes Dresdner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marquinhos Teixeira in the 61st minute of play. If Marquinhos Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of FÊNIX F.C. booed when Black Dragons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cliff Renner didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marquinhos Teixeira took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hannes Dresdner. Hannes Dresdner dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. In the 87th minute, FÊNIX F.C.'s Bengt Bouchard dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-5. FÊNIX F.C.'s Bengt Bouchard got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, FÊNIX F.C.'s Bengt Bouchard got a free kick in the 94th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched FÊNIX F.C. eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
