An unexpectedly hard shot by Erwann Patrice in the 13th minute of play forced Vasco Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Marcelo Vidal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcelo Vidal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bogdan Bambas, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. After a rather tough play, Cosa nostra Lyon's Davy Patron got a free kick in the 45th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bogdan Bambas was the one to do the kick off.
