The audience thought a goal was coming when Ciriaco Cordarrell got free with João Massa in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

After 51 played minutes SAN LORENZO FC got a freekick which was hit by Ciriaco Cordarrell. A sloppy throw-in by Kong Xiang Hao in the 54th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by SAN LORENZO FC's Marcelo Michael. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciriaco Cordarrell in the 55th minute of play forced UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper João Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Massa was left in no man's land by his defense there! SAN LORENZO FC's Robustiano Emeterio was substituted for Froilan Jatsu. SAN LORENZO FC made a substitution. Victor Heredia replaced Ciriaco Cordarrell. 76 minutes into the match, SAN LORENZO FC's Victor Heredia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Massa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victor Heredia during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
