The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hercule Frison hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. SAN LORENZO FC's Marcelo Michael was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Clem Fath in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 21st match minute, Cosa nostra Lyon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Davy Patron to maneuver through the defense. Ciriaco Cordarrells short, quick shot in the 24thth minute got Clem Fath to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Ciriaco Cordarrell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Clem Fath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Ferman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Davy Patron in the 30th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ciriaco Cordarrell got free with Clem Fath in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. SAN LORENZO FC's Diego Cresitobalo quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Thierry Platon, made in the 37th minute of the game. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Clem Fath took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciriaco Cordarrell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clem Fath stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ciriaco Cordarrell's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rodd Laing in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Ferman saved SAN LORENZO FC from getting behind.
