The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Concordia Knurów's Mieszko Sokol got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 6th minute Alan Wirinckx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zbigniew Chazen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kacper Marchlewicz's late challenge caught a YR Mechelen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kacper Marchlewicz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of YR Mechelen booed when Concordia Knurów was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kacper Marchlewicz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jozef Van Acker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. In the 20th minute, Tymoteusz Kornasiewicz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 22 minutes into the match, Tymoteusz Kornasiewicz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stanny Van Wontergem. YR Mechelen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tymoteusz Kornasiewicz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a rather tough play, YR Mechelen's Pino Van Mechelen got a free kick in the 24th minute. 26 minutes into the game, Tibo Van den Bergen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. YR Mechelen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Concordia Knurów the free kick. In the 26th match minute, YR Mechelen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tibo Van den Bergen to maneuver through the defense. When Tibo Van den Bergen came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the YR Mechelen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tibo Van den Bergen couldn't finish the play. In the 31st minute Tymoteusz Kornasiewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stanny Van Wontergem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stanny Van Wontergem took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mieszko Sokol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Tibo Van den Bergen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, YR Mechelen's Jamie Van Mechelen got a free kick in the 39th minute. In the 40th minute Zygmunt Kostrzewski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stanny Van Wontergem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tymoteusz Kornasiewicz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpected shot in the 56th minute by Tymoteusz Kornasiewicz got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Stanny Van Wontergem made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Tymoteusz Kornasiewicz sent off a good shot on target. 64 minutes into the game, Pino Van Mechelen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Zbigniew Chazen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zachary Mockiewicz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Stanny Van Wontergem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 77 minutes of play YR Mechelen's Tibo Van den Bergen was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Tymoteusz Kornasiewicz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Stanny Van Wontergem when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tymoteusz Kornasiewicz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, YR Mechelen's Jamie Van Mechelen got a free kick in the 83rd minute. If Mieszko Sokol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the game, Pino Van Mechelen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
