Bebeto Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Eriberto Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19th minute Aírton Simão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edvaldo Brasil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bebela's Eriberto Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Bebela from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidnei Trancoso in the 30th minute of play forced Bebela's goalkeeper Eriberto Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Bebela's goalkeeper Eriberto Azevedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gilberto Medeiros. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
