Reinaud De Schutter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alessandro Del Piero's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Nicholas Ochavarri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roben Bauweleers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 39 minutes into the match, KFC Paal-Tervant's goal looked a bit too open when Celestino Fandiño came free, but Reinaud De Schutter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Louis Reuters could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Nicholas Ochavarri made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alessandro Del Piero to make the kick off.
