Lucjan Werra struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Emílio Motta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GKS Katowice. 9 minutes into the match, GKS Katowice's goal looked a bit too open when Enéas Seco came free, but Betão Pontes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the GKS Katowice defense, Enéas Seco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Betão Pontes. The GKS Katowice fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Betão Pontes should have stopped the shot. Betão Pontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enéas Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. GKS Katowice's Betão Pontes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enéas Seco in the 13th minute of play. GKS Katowice's Jacek Birkenhagen quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Rômulo de Sena, made in the 15th minute of the game. The supporters of GKS Katowice booed when Guará FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Paulo Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ludomir Zacharek's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emílio Motta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. In the 30th minute of the match GKS Katowice got a corner. Guará FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dominik Brysz ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led GKS Katowice's Lucjan Werra to fire away a dangerous shot which Emílio Motta despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 36 minutes into the match, Guará FC's Enéas Seco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Betão Pontes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 37 minutes had been played when some careless play by GKS Katowice's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ivo Figueiredo was slow to take the kick. During this time Guará FC's players had a chance to rest. Betão Pontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivo Figueiredo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Betão Pontes came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Guará FC's Enéas Seco. But to his dismay, Enéas Seco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The GKS Katowice players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Guará FC were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Ludomir Zacharek made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Ivo Figueiredo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Betão Pontes was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. In the 54th minute, José Paulo Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Enéas Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 65 minutes into the match, Guará FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ludomir Zacharek came free, but Emílio Motta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 65 minutes into the game, Ludomir Zacharek cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Emílio Motta was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Enéas Seco came free with the goalkeeper in the 81st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Betão Pontes could save by the left post. Ludomir Zacharek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 90 minutes of play, Guará FC's Enéas Seco made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Betão Pontes was left in no man's land by his defense there! 94 minutes into the match, Guará FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lucjan Werra came free, but Emílio Motta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Guará FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
