After 3 played minutes Piney got a freekick which was hit by Jeramy Langston. When Edelmiro Pagomari came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Phoenix Athletic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edelmiro Pagomari couldn't finish the play. Ty Yoder stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ildefonso Pasqual's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Piney's goal looked a bit too open when Ildefonso Pasqual came free, but Ty Yoder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ildefonso Pasqual in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ty Yoder saved Piney from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ildefonso Pasqual in the 20th minute of play forced Piney's goalkeeper Ty Yoder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stan Russo during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Stan Russo hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Phoenix Athletic's Lucio Roldanillo got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Ildefonso Pasqual had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Piney booed when Phoenix Athletic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amancio Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ildefonso Pasquals short, quick shot in the 30thth minute got Ty Yoder to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 30 minutes, Ildefonso Pasqual made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Piney's Ty Yoder tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Lucio Roldanillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 35 minutes, Edelmiro Pagomari managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Phoenix Athletic's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edelmiro Pagomari was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vince Link kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 38th minute Ildefonso Pasqual shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ty Yoder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ty Yoder made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Ildefonso Pasqual sent off a good shot on target. After 41 played minutes Ildefonso Pasqual could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 2-0 into the left cross. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

If Mervin Waddell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 55 minutes into the match, Ildefonso Pasqual had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ty Yoder. Piney's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ildefonso Pasqual was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Mervin Waddell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Dimitri Leconte made a huge save. Ty Yoder stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ildefonso Pasqual's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. Ty Yoder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ildefonso Pasqual, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ildefonso Pasqual in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ty Yoder prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 68 minutes into the match, Piney's goal looked a bit too open when Ildefonso Pasqual came free, but Ty Yoder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dimitri Leconte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Diego Looney in the 69th minute. In the 71st match minute, Piney was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kip Blount to maneuver through the defense. In the 72nd minute Edelmiro Pagomari shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ty Yoder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ildefonso Pasqual had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Phoenix Athletic fans' excitement grew in the 85th match minute when Phoenix Athletic's Ildefonso Pasqual looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ildefonso Pasqual in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ty Yoder saved Piney from getting behind. Jeramy Langston kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Ildefonso Pasqual struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Ty Yoder didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Phoenix Athletic. Dimitri Leconte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mervin Waddell in the 96th minute. In the 97th match minute, Phoenix Athletic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ettore Marcolongo to maneuver through the defense. In the 98th minute, Kip Blount got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. There was no doubt that Phoenix Athletic were the better team. Phoenix Athletic's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
