Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Argoitz Abeijon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the match, River CBBA's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Marcelo Barovero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Juan Funes sent off a good shot on target. Sergio Batista was slow to take the kick. During this time River CBBA's players had a chance to rest. River CBBA's Marcelo Barovero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 37th minute of play. Peru's Joaquin Prats managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Matías Almeida in the 41 minute of the game.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 50th match minute, River CBBA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arano Abendano to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Marcelo Barovero in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Matías Almeida charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind River CBBA's goalkeeper Marcelo Barovero, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 87 minutes had been played when some careless play by River CBBA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. The corner ended in Eliseo Mina almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but River CBBA's Marcelo Barovero did a great save.
