Horea Hurmuzache took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Curcio Amer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the match, PERSPOLIS's goal looked a bit too open when Hrvoje Prodanović came free, but Virgilio Marcilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carlitos Belalcaraz charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carlitos Belalcaraz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, PERSPOLIS's Carlitos Belalcaraz got a free kick in the 31st minute. Donatello Incera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horea Hurmuzache having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Curcio Amer in the 38th minute of play forced DINAMO's goalkeeper Horea Hurmuzache to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Curcio Amer might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Horea Hurmuzache. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Curcio Amer ran back to his position shaking his head. When Basarab Zburliş fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DINAMO's protests and gave Basarab Zburliş a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to DINAMO getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Basarab Zburliş hit a great ball. Horea Hurmuzache was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Curcio Amer showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 47 minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hrvoje Prodanović made a kick off. Hrvoje Prodanović kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Hrvoje Prodanović in the 60thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in PERSPOLIS reached it. In the 68th minute, Baltazar Vives hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd match minute, PERSPOLIS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaizki Lacorte to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basarab Zburliş in the 74th minute of play forced PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Virgilio Marcilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arash Lara took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 78th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Horea Hurmuzache. DINAMO's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, DINAMO's goal looked a bit too open when Curcio Amer came free, but Horea Hurmuzache reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. DINAMO's Horea Hurmuzache played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaston Delgado in the 82nd minute of play. PERSPOLIS's Virgilio Marcilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save PERSPOLIS from getting a goal against them. The audience was convinced that Hrvoje Prodanović's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Virgilio Marcilla was relentless in the 98th minute of the game. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
