The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arthur Hengemühl got free with Jean-Louis Van Bever in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mathijs Rokeloos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Henrick Zeier read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. In the 8th minute Marcel Eichelberger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jean-Louis Van Bever saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andries Vermeiren kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. KFC Cromvelde's Herman Frans managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tizian Lengen in the 17 minute of the game. Jean-Louis Van Bever made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Adam Wielowiejski sent off a good shot on target. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
