Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Wojtek Sokol sent off a good shot on target. In the 10th minute of the match Ajax got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Klement Bryk ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ajax's Klement Bryk was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dante Lacasa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Klement Bryk tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tonton Eren scored 1-0 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dante Lacasa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tonton Eren got free with Dante Lacasa in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gigi Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Lorenzo Cazalla hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Klement Bryk in the 22nd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 23 minutes Mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Klement Bryk who took care of the corner kick. Gigi Buffon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th minute, Ajax's Tonton Eren dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. In the 38th minute Wojtek Sokol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ajax's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Klement Bryk in the 39th minute. In the 40th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigi Buffon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gigi Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luca Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Mexico's defense didn't have a chance, in the 46th minute, when Tonton Eren scored to the left of an out of position Dante Lacasa, making the score, 3-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute Wojtek Sokol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gigi Buffon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 52nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Gigi Buffon in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 58 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Felix Luque. Gigi Buffon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 68th minute of play forced Ajax's goalkeeper Gigi Buffon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Ajax's goalkeeper Gigi Buffon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. In the 74th minute Tonton Eren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gigi Buffon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 76th minute of the match. The corner led to Mexico's Luca Rouco getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The supporters of Ajax booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Rouco didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 80 minutes, Tonton Eren put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Dante Lacasa. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Chad Smith during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Ajax getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Chad Smith hit a great ball. In the 86th minute, Chad Smith ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. Ajax made a substitution. Remigiusz Galaska replaced Klement Bryk. 93 minutes into the game, Ajax's Remigiusz Galaska nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dante Lacasa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. Ajax's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
