Sebastian Käller's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zafer Hürsel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joacim Hansson was slow to take the kick. During this time Kind of Blue's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Zhuo Ke Le heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 19th match minute, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Herbert Björnberg to maneuver through the defense. Sebastian Käller might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zafer Hürsel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sebastian Käller ran back to his position shaking his head. 28 minutes into the match, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalkeeper Zafer Hürsel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sebastian Käller. Sebastian Käller blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zafer Hürsel having to make a save. Zafer Hürsel made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Sebastian Käller sent off a good shot on target. Sebastian Käller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Zafer Hürsel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilhelm Galle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Emander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Kind of Blue booed when FC Zenit Saint Petersburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peter Snell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zhuo Ke Le's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zafer Hürsel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. Zafer Hürsel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastian Käller, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sebastian Käller got free with Zafer Hürsel in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebastian Käller was the one to do the kick off. Wilhelm Galle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jörgen Ekeroth in the 51st minute of play. When Jörgen Ekeroth, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 51 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Wilhelm Galle was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 53rd minute Sebastian Käller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zafer Hürsel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilhelm Galle made an important save on a dangerous shot by Peter Snell in the 60th minute. Zafer Hürsel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Epifanio Aznar, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Zafer Hürsel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastian Käller in the 64th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's Wilhelm Galle threw himself towards the right post 73 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Valentin Ivarsson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Kind of Blue's Wilhelm Galle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peter Snell in the 93rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Håkan Kjellman could shoot a difficult shot in the 94th minute, which Wilhelm Galle however easily saved by the left post. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Kind of Blue had won after a very even match.
