Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eriberto Manilan. Eriberto Manilan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. The supporters of A.F Cuervos Azulgranas booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. 8 minutes into the game, Tiburcio Tino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Justino Kusko tried to sneak it across the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Justino Kusko came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eriberto Manilan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Eriberto Manilan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Eriberto Manilan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Anier Seme stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Anier Seme tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Felix Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. Gonzalo Rodriguez charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gonzalo Rodriguez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 42nd minute, Gonzalo Rodriguez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Justino Kusko was the one to do the kick off. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiburcio Tino in the 52nd minute of play. In the 54th minute of the match A.F Cuervos Azulgranas got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Julian Hulberto ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Julian Hulberto got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 58 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Anier Seme came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A.F Cuervos Azulgranas's Eriberto Manilan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 60th minute of play. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anier Seme's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Agustín Saelices was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eriberto Manilan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 77th match minute, A.F Cuervos Azulgranas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anier Seme to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Justino Kusko in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 88 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Justino Kusko came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Justino Kusko in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Eriberto Manilan in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
