Thanks to some nice moves Herberto Sancho could shoot a difficult shot in the 9th minute, which Jonathan Ferrant however easily saved by the left post. Ronald Robles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Willie Arrieta kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Rolando Elizondo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 17th minute of the match. Johnny Villareal kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. In the 20th minute, Tomas Illescas made a precise shot to the right of Rolando Elizondo. CS La Libertad's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. CS La Libertad's Rolando Elizondo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jose Correa in the 25th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Elizondo saved CS La Libertad from getting behind. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronald Robles in the 29th minute. After 31 played minutes Gallo Pinto rounded Venezuela's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. After a rather tough play, CS La Libertad's Wilmer Murillo got a free kick in the 33rd minute. 36 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ronald Robles. CS La Libertad were furious when Elias Lankaster was red carded, 40 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Tomas Illescas shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Elizondo having to interfere. After a rather tough play, CS La Libertad's Ronald Robles got a free kick in the 46th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gallo Pinto, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Herberto Sancho in the 53rd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in CS La Libertad's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Elizondo came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, CS La Libertad's Gallo Pinto got a free kick in the 64th minute. Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Gallo Pinto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Gallo Pinto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rogelio Guardia hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Rolando Elizondo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Johnny Villareal struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CS La Libertad. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gallo Pinto in the 91st minute of play. With a little luck, CS La Libertad's Rolando Elizondo got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
