Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aureliano Florinio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Belgrano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Frans didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Belgrano fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! Aureliano Florinio had in the 34thth minute some difficulties stopping Daniel Zorita's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 35th minute of play forced Belgrano's goalkeeper Aureliano Florinio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aureliano Florinio having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aureliano Florinio was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Valdir Martins in the 43rd minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Aureliano Florinio made a huge save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Belgrano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdir Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 62nd minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Aureliano Florinio. Aureliano Florinio yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. In the 65th minute Valdir Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 67 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ruperto Matia who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Belgrano's corner Ruperto Matia fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Aureliano Florinio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Belgrano's Aureliano Florinio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Belgrano from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Belgrano getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Valdir Martins hit a great ball. The corner led Ecuador's Agustín Saelices to a score. 0-4 in the 85th minute. Aureliano Florinio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 88th minute. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdir Martins in the 91st minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Belgrano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaudencio Federigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Belgrano throughout the match.
