Campus Douro Academy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. After 10 played minutes Campus Douro Academy got a freekick which was hit by Álvaro Machado. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xavier Seco in the 12th minute of play forced Campus Douro Academy's goalkeeper Eliseu Bragança to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliseu Bragança stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joel Gaona's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. In the 21st minute, Joel Gaona left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. With a little luck, Campus Douro Academy's Eliseu Bragança got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Campus Douro Academy's Eliseu Bragança played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luca Zorita in the 60th minute of play. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodolfo Montay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. André Pestana went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Campus Douro Academy's Álvaro Machado to fire away a dangerous shot which Dante Lacasa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of Mexico booed when Campus Douro Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Idalécio Rebelo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Mexico supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mexico would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
