Mihály Földesi started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the game, Lajos Jakó was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Szombathely Squirrels's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Strömsbro IF the free kick. Lajos Jakó hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. 6 minutes into the game, Mihály Földesi recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Per-Olof Walroth. Mihály Földesi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 10 minutes into the game, Ferenc Jászberényi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Szombathely Squirrels's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Strömsbro IF the free kick. After a rather tough play, Szombathely Squirrels's Ferenc Jászberényi got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 13th match minute, Strömsbro IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jens-Ola Norberg to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Szombathely Squirrels's zone, Ivan Billberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Róbert Kormos came out of the goal and Ivan Billberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ivan Billberg scored 1-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Róbert Kormos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Zsolt Vörös recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Ivan Billberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Róbert Kormos. Szombathely Squirrels's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ivan Billberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Gusztáv Győrffy hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Rosen in the 41st minute of play forced Szombathely Squirrels's goalkeeper Róbert Kormos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Szombathely Squirrels booed when Strömsbro IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hjalmar Ahlén didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Szombathely Squirrels's Ferenc Jászberényi tried to score from far away in the 43rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebastian Rosen was the one to do the kick off. When Ivan Billberg came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Strömsbro IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivan Billberg couldn't finish the play. Hjalmar Ahlén hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. 62 minutes into the match, Szombathely Squirrels's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Rosen came free, but Róbert Kormos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Per-Olof Walroth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mihály Földesi in the 65th minute of play. A collision led to Szombathely Squirrels getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Ferenc Jászberényi hit a great ball. In the 70th minute Mihály Földesi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Per-Olof Walroth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Per-Olof Walroth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mihály Földesi in the 71st minute of the match. After 73 played minutes, Szombathely Squirrels's Dénes Boross shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Per-Olof Walroth came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Szombathely Squirrels reached it. After some careless play in the Szombathely Squirrels defense, Ivan Billberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Róbert Kormos. The Szombathely Squirrels fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Róbert Kormos should have stopped the shot. Sebastian Rosen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Róbert Kormos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 82nd minute, Szilárd Csikós got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by János Major during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Róbert Kormos had in the 89thth minute some difficulties stopping Bernt Löfskog's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Nils-Åke Telin kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Szombathely Squirrels's Zsolt Vörös couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Strömsbro IF. In the 96th match minute, Strömsbro IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jon Ivarsson to maneuver through the defense. After 97 played minutes, Szombathely Squirrels's Zsolt Vörös shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Per-Olof Walroth came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Strömsbro IF would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
