Dong Jian Yang started the match with the kick off. Wieslaw Panasewicz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 4th minute of the match. Gimnasia y tiro's Wieslaw Panasewicz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 9th minute of play. Julian Murillo scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wieslaw Panasewicz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 16th minute of play forced Gimnasia y tiro's goalkeeper Wieslaw Panasewicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wieslaw Panasewicz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wieslaw Panasewicz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dong Jian Yang in the 21st minute of play. Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Dong Jian Yang kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rolando Noboa. That made the score 1-1 in the 31 minute of play. Gimnasia y tiro's Wieslaw Panasewicz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 34th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, Julian Murillo notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Gimnasia y tiro's Wieslaw Panasewicz. Wieslaw Panasewicz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 46th minute, Dong Jian Yang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gimnasia y tiro made a substitution. Basilio Guillem replaced Jonatan Euloxu. After the first half Peru were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 55th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wieslaw Panasewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rolando Noboa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reynaldo Montrelle's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reynaldo Montrelle, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wieslaw Panasewicz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Reynaldo Montrelle scored 2-2 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wieslaw Panasewicz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Murillo in the 75th minute. Wieslaw Panasewicz made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. Reynaldo Montrelle scored 3-2 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 84 minutes into the match, Reynaldo Montrelle had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reynaldo Montrelle was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. Wieslaw Panasewicz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Gallo in the 88th minute of play. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gimnasia y tiro's goalkeeper Wieslaw Panasewicz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 95th minute, Rafael Gallo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Peru fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. The Gimnasia y tiro players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
