In the 5th match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hector Covarrubias to maneuver through the defense. After 9 played minutes A C Sciacca got a freekick which was hit by Corrado Cavallucci. Jacobo Nores made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Dennis Fava sent off a good shot on target. Jan-Åke Kjellqvist struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Jacobo Nores didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for A C Sciacca. Dennis Fava fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. The supporters of A C Sciacca booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Campos didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristoforo Contestabile in the 27th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristoforo Contestabile, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Dennis Fava came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the A C Sciacca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dennis Fava couldn't finish the play. A C Sciacca's Florian Petroni got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis Fava in the 41st minute of play. The throw-in from Cristoforo Contestabile in the 45th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Paraguay's Ivan Prats. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
