Rolf Pilgren kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. In the 13th minute, Julian Murillo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cris Courtois was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Julian Murillo took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cris Courtois. Cris Courtois dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Cris Courtois showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 19th minute of the match. Cris Courtois showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 22nd minute, Julian Murillo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Peru fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brian Finnman in the 30th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wambalamba FC's Robin Steckamp got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 42 minutes into the match, Wambalamba FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luz Tejedor came free, but Cris Courtois reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 43 played minutes Wambalamba FC got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldo Meireles. After the first half Peru were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wambalamba FC's Cris Courtois played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 60th minute of play. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rafael Gallo in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cris Courtois saved Wambalamba FC from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Milagros Fraga kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cris Courtois. That made the score 2-5 in the 92 minute of play. Peru played a much better game than Wambalamba FC and deserved their victory. The Wambalamba FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
