The audience was convinced that Diego Lopes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. The supporters of Flames FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Flames FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Diego Lopes made the kick off in the second half. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Lopes in the 52nd minute of play. 54 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Lopes came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Campos, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Diego Lopes in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, Flames FC's Tao Xi got control of the ball when Felix Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tao Xi was out of position in the 71 minute of play, and Felix Montenegro capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Felix Montenegro really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Diego Lopes's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Diego Lopes put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Lopes, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Diego Lopes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. The Flames FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
