Gilson Meirelles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 11th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauro Eliazar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilson Meirelles, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 23rd minute, Alexsandro Simão made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After 28 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 35th minute. After some careless play in the Juventudes Libertárias defense, Patricio Costa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mauro Eliazar. The Juventudes Libertárias fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mauro Eliazar should have stopped the shot. After 42 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Costa. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 46th minute. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Salvador Gisbert hit a great ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ritvaldis Rau to make the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Juventudes Libertárias booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Secada didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ritvaldis Rau struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Juventudes Libertárias. If Gilson Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Illescas made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 69thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Mauro Eliazar would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. A hard shot 74 in the game by Tomas Illescas from a close distance when the talented Mauro Eliazar managed to make a qualified save. Juventudes Libertárias's players were relieved. Juventudes Libertárias's Mauro Eliazar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Costa in the 76th minute of play. Alexsandro Simão took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexsandro Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Juventudes Libertárias's Gilson Meirelles got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Agostinho Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juventudes Libertárias walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
