Mihály Csontos hit a great ball. 4 minutes into the game, Herblay's Jean-Charles Gauche nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Antal Budai made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Szombathely Squirrels's Gusztáv Győrffy shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 10th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Norbert Domenech but with some difficulty. Norbert Domenech was out of position in the 11 minute of play, and Zsolt Vörös capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zsolt Vörös really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After a rather tough play, Szombathely Squirrels's Mihály Csontos got a free kick in the 16th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mihály Földesi got free with Norbert Domenech in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 25 minutes of play, Herblay's Jean-Charles Gauche made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Antal Budai was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Jean-Charles Gauche came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Herblay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean-Charles Gauche couldn't finish the play. After having played for 32 minutes, Gildas Montaut managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Herblay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gildas Montaut was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gildas Montaut received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Antal Budai tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute Jean-Charles Gauche shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antal Budai saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Zsolt Vörös managed to get in a good position for a shot. Szombathely Squirrels's supporters rose to their feet, but Zsolt Vörös was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Norbert Domenech breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 43 minutes into the match, Zsolt Vörös had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Norbert Domenech. Herblay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zsolt Vörös was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After 46 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Herblay! Norbert Domenech had in the 49thth minute some difficulties stopping Mihály Földesi's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mihály Földesi was the one to do the kick off. Herblay's Dove Roig got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 56th play minutes Mihály Földesi shot 3-2, a short shot which went by Norbert Domenech and just under the crossbar into goal. 66 minutes into the match, Dénes Boross notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of Herblay's Norbert Domenech. Norbert Domenech was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Norbert Domenech showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mihály Földesi in the 69th minute of the match. Dove Roig's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 70thth minute, Antal Budai skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Dénes Boross received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Norbert Domenech tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The goalkeeper, Antal Budai, was totally fooled by Herblay's Gildas Montaut, who 77 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. If Dove Roig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mihály Földesi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Norbert Domenech having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mihály Földesi in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Norbert Domenech prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 89th minute Zsolt Vörös shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Norbert Domenech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 97th minute Mihály Földesi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Norbert Domenech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Szombathely Squirrels's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
