Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anaia Barba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tony Angelsø who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 17thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Mexilhão F. C.'s Intxixu Porregimon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute of play. Tony Angelsø who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 25thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 35th minute of play forced Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Intxixu Porregimon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute of the match, Germano Pernambucano got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Mexilhão F. C.'s Intxixu Porregimon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. After 50 played minutes Mexilhão F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Anaia Barba. Intxixu Porregimon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 55th minute. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Intxixu Porregimon in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Intxixu Porregimon having to make a save. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Angelsø in the 64th minute of play. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Intxixu Porregimon having to make a save. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Intxixu Porregimon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. In the 68th minute, Cristian Sancho fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Intxixu Porregimon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 69th minute. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Intxixu Porregimon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 72 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Mexilhão F. C.'s Intxixu Porregimon. Intxixu Porregimon was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 75th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 76th match minute, Mexilhão F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Germano Pernambucano didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Intxixu Porregimon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mexilhão F. C.'s Intxixu Porregimon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 94th minute of play. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
