The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Marcos Basso in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, The Shadows's Marcos Basso got control of the ball when Luz Tejedor tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 60 minutes, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julian Murillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcos Basso had great luck who in the 86thth minute grab hold of the ball when Julian Murillo from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. The Peru players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
