An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Pimentel in the 10th minute of play forced Viola Invest's goalkeeper Dumitru Doloman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Viola Invest's Ryszard Wnukowski threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Stig-Åke Gabrielsson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Viola Invest were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after Arsenal's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Francisco Su took the corner.
