Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Tomas Illescas got the match started through his kick off. A beautiful save bye Sporting de Gijón's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting de Gijón's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Óscar Cordoba came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant was a little too slow when Matias Bilintx got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 19th minute. The score was now 2-0. Jonathan Ferrant was a little too slow when Saturnino Curcio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 22nd minute. The score was now 3-0. Óscar Cordoba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 25th minute of play. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlo Crema didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Camilo Gaos kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Matias Bilintx struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting de Gijón. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Saturnino Curcio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting de Gijón's supporters rose to their feet, but Saturnino Curcio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matias Bilintx to make the kick off. The Sporting de Gijón fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Matias Bilintx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Venancio Emesto's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Venancio Emesto put it in 6-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. After 63rd play minutes Venancio Emesto shot 7-0, a short shot which went by Jonathan Ferrant and just under the crossbar into goal. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Óscar Cordoba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. 71 minutes into the game, Rigoberto Mina was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting de Gijón the free kick. Rigoberto Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. In the 72nd minute of the match Gabriel Diaz shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matias Bilintx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alex Chicote's late challenge caught a Sporting de Gijón's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alex Chicote helped the player get up and apologised. Alex Chicote kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. In the 76th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matias Bilintx in the 78th minute of play. When Jose Correa fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Jose Correa a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 81st minute. 83 minutes into the match, Venancio Emesto notched a goal, 8-0, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matias Bilintx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sporting de Gijón were awarded a corner in the 89th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sporting de Gijón were awarded a corner in the 94th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gabriel Diaz took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Atilano Feo heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely.
