Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Francisco Seco got the match started through his kick off. 7 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Camilo Franco came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 9 minutes into the game, Niceto Dominix threw the ball into play from the sideline. Uruguay's Arturo Carvallo quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Matias Bilintx scored 1-0 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joaquin Gayoso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Saturnino Curcio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. A hard shot 18 in the game by Matias Bilintx from a close distance when the talented Joaquin Gayoso managed to make a qualified save. Uruguay's players were relieved. Matias Bilintxs short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Joaquin Gayoso to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. After 37 minutes, Matias Bilintx made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Franco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute, Sporting de Gijón's Diego Maradona ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-1. The Sporting de Gijón fans' excitement grew in the 48th match minute when Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Sporting de Gijón's Carlo Crema was substituted for Venancio Emesto. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 6-1.

The wind increased when Matias Bilintx made the kick off in the second half. After 56 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Arturo Carvallo. After 57 minutes of play, Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx made it 7-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joaquin Gayoso was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 61st minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Matias Bilintx put it in 8-1 from a short distance just to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Francisco Seco struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Óscar Cordoba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uruguay. Óscar Cordoba made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Seco in the 68th minute. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximiliano Escribano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Arturo Carvallo fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Uruguay's protests and gave Arturo Carvallo a yellow card for diving instead. Arturo Carvallo kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Carolo Ovando replaced Alejandro Rufo. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Arturo Carvallo got a free kick in the 72nd minute. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 82 minutes into the game, Francisco Seco recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Óscar Cordoba. Francisco Seco showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 8-2. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Atilano Feo replaced Rune Fanström. In the 87th minute, Atilano Feo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba got control of the ball when Francisco Seco tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Uruguay's goalie prevented a goal. Joaquin Gayoso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matias Bilintx went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 9-2 was the resulting score. In the 99th minute, Francisco Seco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matias Bilintx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 100th minute. Joaquin Gayoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Uruguay players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Sporting de Gijón.
