Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Daniel Zorita took the kick off in the first half of the match. After 5 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tarcisio Reis who took care of the corner kick. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Régis de Queirós having to interfere. Iustin Bungeanu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. In the 18th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dênis Miranda to maneuver through the defense. Régis de Queirós made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonardo Donato in the 29th minute of play. After 30 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tarcisio Reis who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Tarcisio Reis got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Iustin Bungeanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Régis de Queirós narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iustin Bungeanu in the 39th minute. In the 40th minute Palmeiras were awarded a corner. Tarcisio Reis went to the cornerflag to take it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 42nd minute of play forced Palmeiras's goalkeeper Régis de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Luke Clist made the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonardo Donato in the 52nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luke Clist in the 58th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 63 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Palmeiras made a substitution. José Carlos Simões replaced Iustin Bungeanu. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Carlos Simões in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 72ndth minute of the game José Carlos Simões who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tarcisio Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. 73 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Régis de Queirós, 0-1. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonardo Donato, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Régis de Queirós when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 82 minutes, Leonardo Donato mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palmeiras and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. 85 minutes in the game, Daniel Zorita dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. With a little luck, Palmeiras's Régis de Queirós got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, José Carlos Simões notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
