An unexpectedly hard shot by Sammy Keino in the 17th minute of play forced Karpuzlu's goalkeeper Turan Coşan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the game, Rothwell Park's Adolfo Salvino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Karpuzlu's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. The Karpuzlu players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Rothwell Park were winning 0-4.
The wind increased when Adolfo Salvino made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adolfo Salvino got free with Turan Coşan in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Besim Kutsalan's late challenge caught a Rothwell Park's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When the match was over Rothwell Park could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Karpuzlu throughout the match.
