The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sammy Keino hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. When Elijah Leakey fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rothwell Park's protests and gave Elijah Leakey a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th minute, one of Rothwell Park:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Rothwell Park. Rothwell Park:s Tony Githinji Muhoho showed great skill when he stopped Mazhar Sezai:s penalty. Tony Githinji Muhoho came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by AncruuFC's Mazhar Sezai. But to his dismay, Mazhar Sezai quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 8 minutes into the match, Walter Mutuku notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of AncruuFC's Yenal İzhan. Yenal İzhan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 15th minute Walter Mutuku shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yenal İzhan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th match minute, AncruuFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ahmet Hayri Radi to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Sammy Keino in the 16th minute really tested Yenal İzhan's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Hulki Necmi kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. AncruuFC's Yenal İzhan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save AncruuFC from getting a goal against them. Teófilo Vilanova charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Teófilo Vilanova the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Rothwell Park's Teófilo Vilanova got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 25 minutes into the match, Walter Mutuku had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yenal İzhan. AncruuFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Walter Mutuku was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 31st minute, Walter Mutuku made a precise shot to the right of Yenal İzhan. AncruuFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. In the 37th minute, Walter Mutuku hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th minute Walter Mutuku shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yenal İzhan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tony Githinji Muhoho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arif Lütufkâr in the 47th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Walter Mutuku was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Walter Mutuku got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tony Githinji Muhoho came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by AncruuFC's Mazhar Sezai. But to his dismay, Mazhar Sezai quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. In the 62nd minute, Mazhar Sezai got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rothwell Park's William Mohamed was substituted for Walter Mutuku. With a little luck, Rothwell Park's Tony Githinji Muhoho got control of the ball when Mazhar Sezai tried to sneak it across the goal line. Yenal İzhan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of William Mohamed's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. After 72 played minutes Rothwell Park got a freekick which was hit by Teófilo Vilanova. In the 78th minute, William Mohamed got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Doğan Karay's late challenge caught a Rothwell Park's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Doğan Karay helped the player get up and apologised. In the 87th minute, William Mohamed got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of AncruuFC booed when Rothwell Park was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Urpo Kanerva didn't get a good kick on the ball.
