With an extended leg and a bit of luck 卓西彬 prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 14 minutes into the game, Wantage United's Lamar Mathews nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. 卓西彬 made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 卓西彬 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zafran Singh, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After a rather tough play, Wantage United's Shahiran Ramachandran got a free kick in the 31st minute. In the 34th match minute, Wantage United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zak Choy to maneuver through the defense. If 彭宁克 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 43rd minute Lamar Mathews shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 卓西彬 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Wantage United were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lamar Mathews stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Zafran Singh came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Wantage United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zafran Singh couldn't finish the play.
