The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Vitório Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Francis Lehrer hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Carlos Laderoute came free with the goalkeeper in the 18th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. In the 22nd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Vitório Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 24th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vitório Goiano. Vitório Goiano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 34th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitório Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 35 minutes FC Barcelona's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Elroy Kolb kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vitório Goiano. FC Barcelona's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Sydney Baiano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vitório Goiano. Vitório Goiano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sydney Baiano was the one to do the kick off. Vitório Goiano made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 54th minute. FC Barcelona's Vitório Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th minute, Felix Montenegro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vitório Goiano was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Vitório Goiano was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-6 in the 61 minute of play. In the 71st minute there was a penalty for Ecuador. Daniel Zorita stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Vitório Goiano. 0-7. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vitório Goiano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. 80 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's goalkeeper Vitório Goiano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita.
